Armagh Zone Bowler of the Year

Following the success in a number of different zones over the years, this year Armagh Zone plan to run a Bowler of the Year Award.

 

How it works...

 

1) This is open to any player that is is eligible to play nationals out of Armagh Zone.

2) Every time you qualify to finals night for a tournament within the zone you get 1pt,

3) If you win the tournament you will receive 5pts and if you are beaten in the final you will receive 3 pts and if you are beaten in the semi final you receive 2pts.

4) Armagh National and Zone Competitions also count, with points being the same as open tournaments in the zone.

5) Bonus points will be awarded for anyone within the zone who wins or is a beaten finalist in the Champion of Champions or Open National's (excludes Juniors, Ladies and Over 55's) 15pts for winner and 8pts for beaten finalist.

6) If a sub goes in your place on finals night, it is the sub who receives the points as long as they are a member of Armagh Zone.

7) In the event of a tie it will be the person with the most tournament wins, if still a draw most finals and so on.

 

This is only a bit of fun within the zone and it will hopefully add a bit of interest to our local tournaments. For more details contact Jal Richardson – Zone Convenor.

This years Zone Cup draw has been made as below. Please note the dates that games have to be played by and the fact that the Zone Shield draw will automatically be the losers of the first round Zone Cup ties.

With 6 mats entries are strictly restricted to 54 a night. So enter early to avoid dissappointment.

The tournament is licensed by the IIBA, under Licence no MA-01-1415

 

• Tournament to be held in the Community Centre nightly at 7.30pm.
• Entry fee £4 each, must accompany an entry form.  (Cheques made payable to MG Bowling Club).
• All games played under I.I.B.A. rules.
• Games will be NINE ends.  No trial ends.
• Competitors must report to the controller 10 minutes before time specified.  If more than 15 minutes after specified time, competitor will be disqualified.
• The Committee will endeavour to facilitate competitors, if the specific dates are requested, (alternative dates would be helpful).
• PROPER FOOTWEAR MUST BE WORN.
• Final night Saturday.6th

Obituary – John Trainor

St. Anthony's and Armagh Zone recently lost a dear friend in John Trainor. John was a popular figure in the bowling fraternity and will be sadly missed. The Trainor family have sent the message below:

The family of the late John Trainor would like to express their gratitude to the members of the Armagh Zone and the wider bowling fraternity who sympathised with us after the death of our beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather.

We have been deeply touched with the large outpouring of support from bowlers who travelled from far and wide to express their sympathy with our family at this difficult time.  We are also very grateful for the many cards and messages of condolence we have received.

Our family will continue to take comfort and support from you all, in the knowledge of how highly John was regarded by all his friends.
