Moneyglass Annual Singles Tournament

    • Tournament to be held in the Community Centre nightly at 7.30pm.
    • Entry fee £4 each, must accompany an entry form.  (Cheques made payable to MG Bowling Club).
    • All games played under I.I.B.A. rules.
    • Games will be NINE ends.  No trial ends.
    • Competitors must report to the controller 10 minutes before time specified.  If more than 15 minutes after specified time, competitor will be disqualified.
    • The Committee will endeavour to facilitate competitors, if the specific dates are requested, (alternative dates would be helpful).
    • PROPER FOOTWEAR MUST BE WORN.
    • Final night Saturday.

Success for locals at World Bowls

Players from Armagh Zone had a successful weekend at this year’s World Bowls in Manchester. Dumgor’s Aidan Corrigan, Cranagill’s Mark Sproule and St. Anthony’s Derek McCallion teamed up to lift the world triples title. St. Mark’s Andrew Leckey along with West Down’s DJ Wilson, Jonny Wilson and Eddie Campbell lifted the fours title.

 

Ireland also won the singles with Lisburn’s Raymond Stubbs emerging victorious.

St. Mark's clinch league title

St. Mark’s have won this season’s Zone League Division 1 title with a game to spare. They defeated Tullysaran on Friday 18 March gaining 5 points in the process which was enough to overtake Armagh GC who have completed their fixtures.

 

Portadown Golf Club have been relegated from Division 1 and will be replaced by Division 2 champions St. John’s Moira.

Armagh Ladies Interzone Champions

Armagh Ladies are the 2016 Ladies Interzone champions. They defeated Donegal in today’s final in Killyclogher by 18 shots. The game was a repeat of last years final in which Donegal emerged victorious, but the local ladies gained revenge to lift the title for the 7th time, their last win being in 2011. Ladies Interzone Final

Armagh ladies will travel to Killyclougher once again to face Donegal in the final of the Ladies Interzone next Saturday 20th Feb.  A bus has been arranged and will be leaving the Fairgreen, Portadown at 11.30am. Any players or spectators wishing to travel by bus, please contact Jal (07756221840) ASAP to secure your seat. A meal had also been arranged on the way home, stopping off at Kelly's Inn. Please let Jal know if you wish to attend the meal also.

Ladies through to Interzone Final

Armagh ladies are through to this year's interzone final after a thrilling 48-46 victory in Cork. Armagh were 12 down at half time but a strong second half performance saw them through to meet either West Down or Donegal in the final.

Cork - Travel arrangements

Armagh ladies will travel to Cork for the semifinals of the Ladies Inter Zone on Saturday 30 Jan 2016. All being well they will be travelling down on the Saturday morning and coming back on Sunday. Any players or spectators wishing to travel by bus could you please contact Jal ASAP to book your seat on the bus and also your hotel room.

There's only 2 weeks to get all booked so please try and confirm your interest to Jal by this Friday at the very latest.

 

Mixed fortunes for Interzone teams

Both Armagh Interzone teams have been in action in the last couple of weeks in the quarter finals of their respective competitions.

 

The men were first up on Sat 9 January away to Oriel. The first half was reasonable close with Armagh trailing by 4 at half time, but the second half belonged to Oriel with the hosts running away to a comfortable 29 shot win. Rink scores were as follows:

The ladies fared much better in their Q/F in Ardstraw against Mid Tyrone on 16 Jan. The damage was done in the first half with Armagh building up a 25 shot lead. The second half rinks added a further 10 shots to the overall winning margin to set up a S/F clash away to Cork. Rink scores as follows:
