8 Feb: Men win Zone Shield
Armagh Men won the Interzone Shield with a 1 shot victory over West Down.
Armagh were behind the from the start, with West Down producing a very good performance in the 1st half especially on mat 2 were West Downs Cecil Dillon guided his rink to a 17-6 victory over Mark Sproule.
The other 2 first half Armagh rinks of Joe Beattie and Alan Roberts were able to reduce this 11 shot deficit to 3 shots with Joe beating Liam Murray 10-7 and Alan winning 11-6 against Alan Johnston, leaving West Down with a slender 3 shot lead at the half way stage.

The second half got under way with West Down continuing in good form and by 4 ends in the 2nd half had moved to a 9 shot lead.
In the 5th end Armagh got the break they needed with Aidan Corrigan playing a super shot chopping out a bowl for a big count of 7 to bring Armagh within 2 shots of West Down.
West Down fought back again though and by lifting 6 shots across the 3 mats they had once again led by 8 shots.
Armagh again rallied back lifting a further 7 shots across the mats leaving them 1 down with 2 ends remaining.
West Down added 2 more shots on the 9th end leaving a nail biting finish with Armagh needing 3 shots to tie with all 3 mats on their last end.
Aidan Corrigan lifted 1 shot to leave 2 in the game but with 3 shots against Marty Trainor and his last bowl to come, things were looking bleak for the Armagh side. Marty however had other ideas and played a waited shot on his forehand to kick off an outside bowl to get shot and leave only 1 shot in the game with Andrew Leckey's last end still to come.
With Andrew holding shot, he drew a 2nd to leave the game against West Downs Eddie Campbell with his last bowl to come. Eddie tried to draw shot but was just slightly tight and did not change the head giving Armagh the 2 shots they needed to win the match.
