Armagh Juniors through to Semi's

Congratulations to the Armagh Junior Zone team who beat Oriel by 5 shots in a nail biting game in Cooley today.

In a game were the lead changed back and forth, it was Oriel who took a 4 shot lead into the last four ends of the game.

Armagh's Sean Breen was able to lift a 2 on his last end and after an excellent running shot by Andrew Robinson to ditch the jack to gain another 2 shots, this left the game all square with only 2 ends remaining on James Robinson's mat.
On the 9th end James played the perfect running shot with his last bowl to move the jack to the 4 waiting Armagh bowls to gain a vital 4 to put Armagh within sight of victory going 4 up into the last end.
The last end proved to be quite a dramatic end as Armagh tried to sow things up, Oriel's Shane Hand was forced to burn the jack twice with his last bowl to keep Oriel's hopes alive. On the 3rd replay of the last end it was Armagh that struggled and with only 1 bowl in the head, Shane Hand with the last bowl had a chance to 'chop and lie' the Armagh bowl to lie 5 shots and win the game. Luckily for Armagh, Shane was slightly wide and just clipped the Armagh bowl but did not move it, leaving Armagh the winners and heading onto the semi final stages.

It was a great team effort from the Armagh side and they showed their fighting spirit right up to the end!!

Well done guys!!
