WELL DONE LADIES! NOW IT'S YOUR TURN MEN!
Armagh Ladies have won the Interzone title for the 5th time with a 45 shot demolition of Mid Down in today's final. The last time the Ladies lifted the title was in 2003, and this latest sucess was more or less sealed at half time when the locals led by 22 shots. The second half rinks didn't let up and added another 23 shots to the winning margin. All 6 rinks won (Armagh skips first):
1st Half
Rachel Cassells 14 E. McKinley 5
May Cassells 12 C. Tumelty 10
Daphne Marshall 16 L. Lusty 5
Half time: Armagh 42 Mid Down 20
2nd Half
Pauline Beattie 14 K. Woodside 4
Flo McNally 14 P. Rice 6
Bronagh Malone 10 R. Gibson 5
Final Score: Armagh 80 Mid Down 35
This victory caps an impressive string of victories in this years competition with North Belfast, South Belfast, Oriel, West Down and now Mid Down all dispatched with relative ease.
Now it's up to the men to emulate this feat in their final next week against Donegal, and in so doing secure an historic double for Armagh and round off a great Interzone season.
